welcome to my practice
My name is Sarah (she/her), I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in Santa Barbara, California.
My work is driven by my love and curiosity for people and our environment. I studied Geography and Geology in undergrad at UCSB. The years following, I worked in the tech industry from Diversity & Inclusion to Community & Growth. My passions for connecting with others and working with the ever-changing tools technology can offer us, ultimately led me to pursuing a career in mental health.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. During graduate school, I received my clinical training at Cottage Hospital on the Psychiatric and Addiction Inpatient Unit working with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness and addiction. Following graduation, I continued working at Cottage Hospital as a Clinical Counselor at the Cottage Residential Center working adults struggling with substance use and co-occuring disorders.
I am passionate about social and environmental justice. I deeply believe that in healing ourselves we will be able to heal our communities and planet. In my free time, you’ll find me exploring beaches and trails with my pup, Hippo, paddling out in the ocean, volunteering as a Crisis Counselor on the Crisis Textline, and cooking and sharing meals with friends and family.
As an associate, my work is supervised by Cara Behan, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #122460 locally in Santa Barbara.
